
Kade Cummings

Kade Cummings is a native of Dallas, Texas. At the age of ten, he followed in his younger sister's footsteps and began his dance training at Hathaway Academy of Ballet. Kade is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. In 2017, Kade was named a National YoungArts Foundation finalist in modern dance. He was awarded the Silver Award for his performance of Striped Shadow by Gregory Dawson. In the same year, he received the prestigious honor of being a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, where he performed at The John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. In 2017 he was also accepted into The Juilliard School. While attending Juilliard, Kade was honored to perform the principal role of the Shaman in Martha Graham's Rite of Spring under the artistic leadership of Terese Capucilli and has performed works by Bryan Arias, José Límón, Andrea Miller, and Matthew Neenan. In 2019, Kade and his sister were awarded 1st place in the regional pas de deux category at Youth American Grand Prix and performed at the New York finals. In the summer of 2019, Kade was cast as a dancer in the Warner Brothers film, In the Heights, based on the Broadway musical by Quiara Alegria Hudes and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Kade has been awarded scholarships to summer dance programs, including Alonzo King LINES, Nederlands Dans Theater, and Arts Umbrella, where he has danced the works of William Forsythe, Alonzo King, Jiří Kylián, Paul Lightfoot and Sol Léon, and Crystal Pite. Kade looks forward to dancing in the Senior Production 2021 concert and working with Ohad Naharin for the 2021 Spring Dances production. Upon graduating, Kade looks forward to dancing professionally and hopes to inspire the next generation of dancers.
