Mackenzie Meldrum is a native of Chesterfield, Michigan. She began her formal dance training at the age of nine at Spotlight Dance Works in Michigan. This training prepared her to be well versed in contemporary and modern styles and ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, and musical theater. In 2017, Mackenzie was accepted into The Juilliard School’s class of 2021, where she would pursue her BFA in dance. Mackenzie has worked with and performed pieces by choreographers such as Brian Arias, Nelly van Bommel, Trisha Brown, José Limón, and Andrea Miller. During her second year at Juilliard, Mackenzie had the opportunity to dance the role of the Chosen One in Martha Graham’s The Rite of Spring; under the direction of Terese Capucilli. Along with this, she has been a part of many student choreographic works. Last spring, Mackenzie attended Body Traffic’s Spring Fling Intensive, training under Anouk Van Dijk in Countertechnique. In 2019, she ventured out to Italy to attend the Forsythe/Pite program at Orsolina28. This intensive explored the works of William Forsythe and Crystal Pite in parts of Northern Italy. In previous years, she attended Complexions Contemporary Ballet intensives and the Juilliard Summer Intensive. In her final year at Juilliard, Mackenzie is excited to continue her dance training and expand her horizons in this world-renowned dance program.
