Born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Omani Ormskirk started dancing at a very young age. She is a well-versed dancer that feels comfortable in both modern and contemporary styles. She has performed works by Jiří Kylián, Martha Graham, Bryan Arias, Andrea Miller, Ed Wubbe and danced the principal role in Donald McKayle’s Rainbow ‘Round My Shoulder. She has spent a summer at Dance Theatre of Harlem and completed a week-long residency with Ohad Naharin at The Juilliard School. Also interested in choreography, Omani has created work for the Choreographers and Composers program at Juilliard and will be creating a new work for Senior Production this spring. She has also made work for several student choreography workshops. In 2017, with a very clear focus on what she wanted to do, she graduated from the Havo/VWO voor muziek en dans (pre-education of the Codarts conservatory) in Rotterdam at the top of her class. At age sixteen, she was invited to give a TEDx Talk to speak about winning the Los Angeles World Championships of Performing Arts during the summer of 2015. At Juilliard, Omani is also active in community outreach engagement. Through the Gluck Fellowship, she performs in hospitals and Senior Citizens Homes. She is in her senior year and auditioning for companies as her goal of being a professional dancer comes closer and clearer.
